From hand tools to cyborgs, humans have long been fascinated by the opportunities afforded by augmenting ourselves. studied how motor augmentation with an extra robotic thumb (the Third Thumb) impacts the biological hand representation in the brains of able-bodied people. Participants were tested on a variety of behavioural and neuroimaging tests designed to interrogate the augmented hand’s representation before and after 5-days of semi-intensive training. Training improved the Thumb’s motor control, dexterity and hand-robot coordination, even when cognitive load was increased or when vision was occluded, and resulted in increased sense of embodiment over the robotic Thumb. Thumb usage also weakened natural kinematic hand synergies. Importantly, brain decoding of the augmented hand’s motor representation demonstrated mild collapsing of the canonical hand structure following training, suggesting that motor augmentation may disrupt the biological hand representation. Together, our findings unveil critical neurocognitive considerations for designing human body augmentation.

Junts – almost one By Agota Rimsaite , Cristina Sanchez

The lighting “Junts” is a combination of the basic geometrical shapes – circular and rectangle. The integrated magnet lets you to play and create different compositions depend on the light you need. It could be used as a table or reading light, as well as a soft room light. The frame is made of metal which gives the stability so you can put the wooden circular wherever you want the light to be. “Junts” in Catalan means “together”, which is the main idea of this lighting – both of the shapes: circular and rectangle in this lighting don’t mean anything without one another.

I developed and designed a new experience design project which involves packaging design that communicates core brand values – Uniqueness, quality ingredients, sustainability and contemporary presence. These values are communicated throughout diverse brand touch-points utilizing different senses. Touch sensations through fine materials, pleasant fragrances deriving from products inside the boxes, and sense of esthetics aroused by contemporary and minimalist design.

Förena spa identity By HAUS studio , Josiane Cossette

Identity for a brand new type of spa in North America. The visual identity of Förena was designed to support the vision of a great spa city: we have tried to extract all the necessary presence, expressing it in a soft and ethereal tone. The design of the logotype was inspired by the idea of contrasts, inherent in the occupation of the place (hot / cold, emptying / refueling). Thus, each letter explores this contrast through the thickness of its lines, through the full and empty which form the whole. Then, graphic motifs that recall both the rippling water, the steam and the topography of Mont-Saint-Bruno are exploited through a visual system that wants to be elegant and imbued with a certain mystery.

TESSERE olive oil Originally, the olives are harvested by hand, or by comb, when the fruit becomes very green.  A cloth is used to spread under the olive trees and under no circumstances the fruit is picked from the ground. The olives are then transported by plastic rigid perforated boxes or bags with a capacity of 30-50kg. The time from the production to the pressing of the olive oil does not exceed 24 hours from the harvest to the production. The preservation of the olives until their pressing must be done in a cool place, and it is forbidden to store in a field full with olive trees, where it is exposed to various natural and microbiological hazards.

LUUX is a Swiss company founded by two women, which helps to build luxury brands, mainly focusing on perfumes. The double U means VALERIA & VIRGINIA (U = V in latin). ‘LUX’ means ‘light’ in latin, that’s why I designed a sun symbol as the part of the logo. I wanted to make a shiny and warm feeling, therefore I am mixing the elegant, pure pastel pink and the pale butter colors with a strong, vivid orange. The gold always symbolized the real luxury lifestyle. The playful, fashionable but a bit edgy logotype follows nowdays luxury trends, what is not always conservative but rather qualiutative and characterful.

Their concept is based on providing healthy take away food that is hand-made at the spot, as well as a comfortable environment for a cup of coffee and a quick meal. They also offer each and every customer the chance to customize their own food experience.The challenge was to make a design that is strong and playful with a warm welcoming atmosphere in a busy and noisy indoor surrounding. We built the design around a charming logo placed in a soft circle, symbolizing harmony of eating good healthy food that lasts through the day.

The toothbrush design with the value of nature Imagine that you are in a dense forest. Your eyes, mind and breath have the sense of stability in tall and upright trees. The electric toothbrush F Series put such a value the forest gives in it. Forty-eight elaborate stripped patterns represent each tree.
You can feel the sense of grip with the fine pattern of 0.25mm and it adds the refinement on the toothbrush. Anjuna Ice Pops is a Hungarian plant-based popsicle brand founded in 2015. They have their own stores in the heart of Budapest and near lake Balaton. We designed the logo and brand identity then, and now we got the chance to create the package designs for 6 flavours that are going to be available in InterSpar stores all over Hungary. The brand’s main message is “Summer is a lifestyle”, hence our aim was to deliver this feeling through the design. Whether you’re at the beach, taking a break or cycling in the park, you can always pull out your Anjuna and enjoy a little piece of summer. Our main characters are doing just that and without guilt since the popsicles are vegan and some of them even sugar-free. There are two types of boxes for now, one is for the single products and there is a larger one that contains 15 ice pops. As for the colors, we chose similar shades to the popsicle’s and highlighted them with some other bolder colors, giving it a fresh tasty outlook.

Confrérie Artisans Brasseurs is a craft microbrewery in Québec, Canada. It offers a range of seasonal so-called Fruit based beer, that is to say that fruits are used during the fermentation process to influence taste. This technique enhances freshness and flavor of the product, unlike so-called fruit flavoured beer which is later flavored. The exclusive small brews are produced according to fruit production from the region’s orchards. Wishing to move away from the usual iconography of fruit-flavored beers, juices or fruity drinks. The use of a graphic system evoking fruit labels is a subtle but strong reminder of their main distinction: fruit beers.

Bird man By Thinking Room

Bird, when it’s not a flying species, is another word for an odd person, which is what birdman is about. Aside of its eyebrow-raising name, Birdman is a Melbourne-style izakaya with an interesting personality. In Japan’s unapologetically fast-paced high-expectation life, people went to izakayas after work hours to talk, rant or even just to interact with strangers. In this place they are free of any social roles. This has given us the idea to use eyes, since they are the windows to the soul, and when we look at someone in the eye, it means we are confident and free from the fear of being judged. For the graphics, we made Birdman to look simple, subtle and naïve yet oddly witty at the same time — as seen in the menu direction and the front signage. Since Birdman is open for rush hour lunch, there are ones who came alone, thus we coined the tagline “solo ok, flocks ok” meaning “come with your weird self or with your weird friends”
