When Pumpkin Carving Becomes an Art By The Pumpkin Geek
Pumpkin carving is one of the exciting things to do for Halloween. If most of the people are happy to succeed to carve spooky face, Alex Wer (known under the name of The Pumpkin Geek), mastered it and made it his art. The difference between people and him, is that his pieces last forever as it is made on a “faux” pumpkins. A perfect way to use it all over again for years, each Halloween. On it, Wer represents movie hero/villain, sports legend, musician, actor/actress or even child’s portrait. His “Orange Empire” as he calls it, started in 2009 “quite by accident”, as he explains.
“My wife asked me to carve a pumpkin for her office Open House […] Since it was a few weeks until Halloween, my options were to carve a real pumpkin and have it died within a week, or try my hand at craft pumpkins which would last. It was a simple logo and script and was a big hit at the Open House. Soon I had about 35 orders for business logos and even children’s portraits! Not even knowing what I was doing, The Pumpkin Geek was born ». A perfect treat for Halloween.
